Ah, finally a break

Well it was only a week ago that I was saying how BUSY I was...All I needed was a day off school to get caught up on all my work! :) Thankfully Tuesday I got a very much needed day off school :). I have a couple group projects coming up and I was feeling very stressed about those but I got everything done. I was up at nine in the morning doing homework and finished around 5 pm. But I felt VERY accomplished :). Now I just have an impossible computer assignment to finish up WITH Jonny's help. I tried to do it on my own and the only part I knew how to do was how to rename the document. Really, I'm not that dumb with computers at all, but those assignments are killers I tell you! I am getting used to the routine of getting up at 5 on Thursdays & Fridays now. It isn't quite as bad as I thought it would be but I would much rather stay in bed til 9 :). Once I'm at the nursing home though, time just flies by. I am having a hard time trying to plan a wedding while being in school. It may just all have to be postponed until I'm done school (April 20). But I have the important things done....I have the groom and my dress :). That's all that matters! I am having a hard time finding bridesmaid dresses though. Well, I found some but they are more expensive than I hoped to make my bridesmaids pay :(. My mom says I'm being too nice...which may be true...:S
tonight I get to hang out with a friend which is a NICE BREAK... I have only hung out with one friend ONCE since I started school :S ...so it is a MUCH needed break :)
Well that's all for now.

Practicum

Ah such a busy life a tell you! These last two weeks I have gotten to go to the nursing home on Thursdays and Fridays for my practicum. I have to be at the nursing home at 545 in the morning which is just NOT FUN for me :). Oh well, I'm kinda getting used to it. I have been THROWN right into the job but I'm feeling a little more confident although it was scary at first. I have definitely had some great experiences! Some made me laugh, some made me cry. Everyone in my unit has confusion to some extent so many of them have no way of communicating. My first day at the nursing home I reached out and held a lady's hand. She can't talk, but she looked up at me and cried and then kept kissing my hand. I just learned today that her family visits her only once a year and it absolutely broke my heart. I have had some funny experiences as well such as a lady asking me if I was sober and another lady telling me that she didn't want to be an old man! :) Today after breakfast I told one of the gentlemen that I was going to wheel him out to the other room to watch tv, being the polite man he is he asked me "do you want me to help you and get up?" I couldn't help but smile because as far as I know he can't even walk, he is in a wheelchair, but he wanted to help me out :). So then I told him it was ok, he could just sit in his chair ;) and then as I wheeled him out he said "oh THIS is nice! WHAT a day!" :) It is a lot of work but it's worth it to make someone smile. It's not physically or emotionally easy but I'm glad to be able to help out in the nursing home.
