Hello!
Wow a lot has changed since I last blogged. You may have noticed the title "new things?" Let me explain :)
Well first of all I have a NEW niece!!! Ruby Elizabeth Silver was born on September 24th and I'm absolutely thrilled to have a niece who I can buy cute little dresses for!! Although I have not yet had a chance to meet her I hope I will get to soon! My mind can't comprehend the fact the my sister who used to live in the room next to me, who shared almost every minute of the first 17 years of my life, has a new baby who I have not yet met!! I wish more than anything that I could have been there for her at this special moment in her life BUT distance and money make that hard. I miss having both my sisters living close by. I am so thankful for sisters that are my best friends!
Secondly, Jonny got a NEW job! He is still at the same place but he got a promotion and I'm so proud of him! He was told that there were over 50 applicants for that job but he GOT IT!! He likes his new job much better than his old one and that makes me happy. He is working full-time now and I'm still getting used to that. I miss him and wish that I could spend every second with him but I guess we are still in the "honeymoon stage" which I hope never ends by the way! He oftens tell me that he wishes I could fit in his pocket so that I could go with him everywhere!! ha ha I love him
Thirdly, I got a NEW job!! As of November 5 I will officially be working at the HOSPITAL! I am soooo excited! My mom says that when I was a kid we would visit people in the hospital and I loved being there! Kind of strange to love the hospital, but I did, and now I have a job there! I don't really know too many details about it so far so I hope it's the perfect job that I seem to think it is! I handed in my 2 weeks notice at the retirement home. Although I have only worked there 2 months (12 hours a wk :S) I am going to miss the residents there SO much! One elderly gentleman who I help take care of told me in the first week I worked there that he was really sorry but he probably wouldn't remember my name because he is awful with names. (he is 92 years old!!!) I told him that was ok and I understand. About a week later I was walking down the hall and he smiled so big and said "I REMEMBER YOUR NAME!!! IT'S CHERYL!" That made me smile for the rest of my shift....he remembered my name!! :). Every time he sees me now he says " I still remember your name!" I have met so many amazing residents in the last few months! I have heard stories of war, of great accomplishments, etc... It is so hard to see some people who have accomplished AMAZING things and are now plagued with dementia and cannot remember any of it. It seems so unfair yet I know that God has a plan for everything. Now after working in this field my greatest prayer is that those close to me will never ever have to suffer with dementia. So many of the elderly people that I have met have gone through SO much yet they hardly ever complain. I admire them so much and only hope that I can learn to be as thankful as all of them are!

Mrs. :) at last
Hello. I would like to re-introduce myself..... My name is MRS. RAJARATNAM!!!! Actually that makes me feel very old...so let's just stick to "Cheryl" !!! But I am finally a "Mrs." I have been married 2 months and I feel like it's been 6 years!!! In a good way of course. (when I told my mom that I think she got a little worried til I explained!!! ha ha) It just feels so "normal"...I don't know how else to explain it ha ha. No more ten 'o' clock curfews, no more having to find a chaperone to come out with us...etc... I love it :). I thought as soon as I got married I would suddenly be the PERFECT housewife....cooking meals, cleaning the house.....ya not so much :). I have decided I'm not that thrilled with the whole "cooking thing" lol, I would much rather bake ;). Right now I have a buffalo chicken casserole in the oven just waiting for Jonny to get home from work though. yum!!!!
I got a job a couple days ago at a retirement/nursing home. It has been an interesting couple of days. I was basically thrown right into the job without much explanation on what I was supposed to be doing. Yesterday I think I spent about half my shift riding in the elevators going from floor to floor trying to find another PSW or nurse to answer my questions....oh well. The elevator rides were fun I guess;) Yesterday I was asked to bring breakfast to a lady who has dementia. I was told that she is very forgetful and does not like to eat so I have to feed her. I brought her breakfast in the room and she told me right away that she didn't want any breakfast. I sat down next to her though and put jam on her toast and handed it to her....she polished off 3 slices....all on her own. Then I handed her a cup of milk and she would say "Oh thank-you, I will just take a little bit"....she would drink a tiny sip and then hand it back. I would wait a few seconds....hand her cup back and she would say the same thing "Oh, thank-you. I will just take a little bit." Then hand it back. I did this until the cup was empty. Don't get me wrong, dementia is no laughing matter, but it did make me smile that each time she took the cup again she would smile and say "oh thank-you" as if I was offering it to her for the first time. All that to say when I came back with an empty plate and cup I was met by a very excited worker who said "SHE ATE IT ALL? REALLY??" yes.. victory :). One victory among many not- so- victorious things at work in the last few days...but we won't get into that :). I am learning ....slowly but surely ;)
Well those are basically the highlights of my life these days. Work and married life :). I am very excited for this long weekend of no work!! :)

One MONTH!! :)
Well, TODAY marks the ONE month countdown for the wedding!!! So so exciting! Everything is coming together and I keep telling Jonny "next time we get married ....we will do things differently" ha ha! Just kidding! Thankfully we only get married once ;). And by doing things differently I mean ...I WON'T spend ten hours making table numbers? ha ha....soooo not worth it :) !!! Next big thing on my list after the wedding is finding a JOB! I have applied everywhere that a PSW can work...and now I wait for a phone call :)
This was probably the fastest week of my life!! Monday was a holiday which means I didn't have to teach piano! (yay)---only 4 more lessons with my students :) Thursday to Saturday was spent in Brampton with Alyssa :). I decided to take the go train instead of driving because she was coming back to my house on Saturday anyways so I only had to take it one way. Now those who know me know that I am directionally challenged...I mean ABSOLUTELY HOPELESSLY CHALLENGED! North, East, South, West- those mean NOTHING to me. If I'm in a new area I often don't know which way I need to go to get home! Needless to say I was a little nervous to take the train by myself. Thankfully I got on the right train and it was a breeze....UNTIL I got to union station...My amazing fiance made me a little map of which trains to take with little pictures to show me where to go once I got to union station...Only problem was that once I got into the station I could not FIND anything that looked like the pictures!! I called Jonny in a panic and he could not figure out how to lead me to the right place...which REALLY stinks...because I was planning on buying a muffin and couldn't find any of the restaurants that we SUPPOSED to be there ;). ha ha. Luckily I am not the only directionally challenged person...a random girl came up to me and said "do YOU know where you are going? Cuz I'm so lost!" ....So the place I was stuck it at the station was a big hallway that led to platforms for 4-27. I was watching the tv screen and all the other trains were leaving from platform 4-27 so I figured I was safe...so I waited...and waited...and waited...until my platform showed up on the tv screen....PLATFORM 3???? UH OHHHH!!!!! Luckily I found a sign for platform 3...followed it and ended up on the right train :)...beside a lady who kept glaring at me ha ha ! (I moved seats once there was more room after a couple stops:D)....Yay! I made it to Brampton and it felt like an adventure! :) That night Alyssa and I went shopping and spent too much money :). It's always a competition for us to spend less than each other so we don't feel so bad about spending money :). Then on Friday I went with Alyssa's class for a field trip. We walked on the bus together and a kid yelled out "LOOK!!! THERE ARE TWO MRS. GIRARDS!!" ha ha apparently we looked like twins to all the kindergarteners...(and some adults too ;) ....weird! Let me tell you...it is a very interesting experience being the new "face" on a kindergarten field trip. ;) On the way back in the bus the conversation between two girls went like this .
"I WANT to sit by Miss Kurba!"
"No! I want to sit by her!"
"BUT I saw her FIRST!"
"so? she was MY partner for the fieldtrip!!!"
Needless to say, I ended up sitting squished in between both girls (and we were in the dreaded seat right over the wheel of the bus where there is NO leg room...ha ha) and they begged me to tell them stories for the ride home...I don't think either of them stopped talking for the WHOLE bus ride ;) It was fun though :)
Well I hope the next 4 weeks go as fast as this one did!!! I think I might DIE from all this waiting :)

Finally...time to blog :)
Wow! It has DEFINITELY been too long since I blogged last! I was SO busy the last 2 months with practicum and now I am done school and literally do not know what to do with my spare time....don't get me wrong...I have lots that NEEDS to be done...it's just a matter of actually doing it :). I have lots of wedding stuff to do, eventually I have to start packing, I am looking for a job...etc :).
I finished school a week and a half ago and I have to say this school year flew by so incredibly fast! I am looking forward to finding a job as a PSW :).
Last Wednesday I got my wisdom teeth out. That was FUN....not :S !! At least the laughing gas didn't make me act weird. I have seen enough youtube videos of people on laughing gas that I told my mom "please don't let me do anything embarrassing!" I do remember though, when the nurse was giving me the IV she said "what's the name of the guy you are marrying?" I said "ummmmmmmm.....Jonathan." which I laughed about after because number 1...I shouldn't have had to say "um" and number 2...I never call him Jonathan. ha ha!! When I came into the waiting room after the surgery then the nurse asked me if I had already set up my follow-up appointment for the next week. My mom answered and said "yes we made it for Wednesday." My mouth was stuffed with gauze so I tried to talk and tell her I wanted to change it to TUESDAY after all. As I tried to talk my mom and the nurse just looked at me all confused-like and my mom said "Don't talk ok?" They thought I was just saying silly things from the laughing gas but really...I HAD a point!! ha ha ! My chin and lower lip stayed frozen for HOURS after I got home. So I sat there looking at my pain meds which I could NOT swallow because everything kind of just fell out of my mouth due to the numbness :(. That was probably the worst part of it all....the next day my mom called me a chipmunk...because I kind of DID look like a chipmunk :). All is good now though besides the medicine I'm still on that makes me feel MISERABLE.... :(...only 2 more days of taking it though!!! yay!!!
In 55 days I will be getting married!!!! I can't believe it!!!! (8 weeks from yesterday)! The big thing on mine and Jonny's list right now is finding an apartment. I will feel much happier once I know we will have a place to LIVE after the wedding :)...not that we are going to end up on the streets ha ha ...but it would be nice to find an apartment soon :)! I love the atmosphere and weddings and I always think at every wedding "I can't wait to get married!!" And now it will actually be ME!!! yay!!!
Well I am officially sick of winter....even though it is now spring...and we did not have a real winter! But seriously, my FAVOURITE hobby...sitting outside tanning and reading!! I have the BOOKS but no tanning weather :(.
Well that's all my exciting news for now! :)

yes, I AM still alive
well....you know it's been too long since you blogged when you forget how to log in :S oops!!! :)
so let me catch you up on the last 2 months since I last blogged...let's see...school, work, homework, wedding stuff, school, work, homework, wedding stuff....yup get the idea? Story of my life at the moment :)
I'm happy to say that I had a PERFECT GPA last semester and I am TRYING for another perfect GPA this semester but I'm not too sure how that's going to work out. I have never had so much homework in my life as I do this semester. My first few days into school I thought "there is ABSOLUTELY no way I can do all this work." Now 2 and a half weeks later I feel like I am FINALLY getting things accomplished....it's a nice feeling :). So during the week I have school and homework and on the weekends I do my wedding planning :) it's a pretty good system so far. I am ABSOLUTELY SOOOO excited to be getting married in 157 days :)
Last week I had a little visitor come inside the house. He is small. He flies......let me rephrase that "he WAS small.....he USED to fly" ...yup that's right! The BAT is no more! I am absolutely TERRIFIED OF BATS NOW. And when I say terrified I mean... think of the thing you are MOST afraid of....multiply it by ten...and that's me! My dad killed the bat with the trusty tennis racket and the poor thing actually made a sad little crying sound...UGH I CAN'T believe I just called it a POOR thing... but what if it left its poor bat babies as orphans? Or what if he was newly married... (ya really do BATS get married?) See....I'm CRAZY! I hate the bat but his little cry made me a LITTLE sad...I guess.....
My Christmas break this year was absolutely AMAZING! I had almost a whole month of school and I enjoyed every minute of it. I got to go to Newfoundland for the FIRST time to visit my sister, brother-in-law, and nephew in their NEW home :). We flew to Newfoundland on Christmas Day so I opened all my presents at home and then put them back in their boxes for a week until I got back home. I have to say...it was like opening my presents ALL over AGAIN because I kinda forgot what I had gotten for Christmas lol. Part of my present from Jonny was a sweater he picked out for me.....it was the first time he has EVER picked out clothes for me on his own....I was soooo excited that I wore it on the plane TO newfoundland and FROM newfoundland because I was scared that if I put it in my suitcase then my suitcase would go missing and I would NEVER be able to wear the sweater from Jonny again. lol....paranoid? maybe. But I do remember a trip I went on years ago, I arrived in St. Lucia....but my luggage did not. That was NOT fun....but it come the next day ;).
Well that's all the news I have for this time.....just wanted to let you all know.... yes, I AM still alive :)
