Hello. I would like to re-introduce myself..... My name is MRS. RAJARATNAM!!!! Actually that makes me feel very old...so let's just stick to "Cheryl" !!! But I am finally a "Mrs." I have been married 2 months and I feel like it's been 6 years!!! In a good way of course. (when I told my mom that I think she got a little worried til I explained!!! ha ha) It just feels so "normal"...I don't know how else to explain it ha ha. No more ten 'o' clock curfews, no more having to find a chaperone to come out with us...etc... I love it :). I thought as soon as I got married I would suddenly be the PERFECT housewife....cooking meals, cleaning the house.....ya not so much :). I have decided I'm not that thrilled with the whole "cooking thing" lol, I would much rather bake ;). Right now I have a buffalo chicken casserole in the oven just waiting for Jonny to get home from work though. yum!!!!
I got a job a couple days ago at a retirement/nursing home. It has been an interesting couple of days. I was basically thrown right into the job without much explanation on what I was supposed to be doing. Yesterday I think I spent about half my shift riding in the elevators going from floor to floor trying to find another PSW or nurse to answer my questions....oh well. The elevator rides were fun I guess;) Yesterday I was asked to bring breakfast to a lady who has dementia. I was told that she is very forgetful and does not like to eat so I have to feed her. I brought her breakfast in the room and she told me right away that she didn't want any breakfast. I sat down next to her though and put jam on her toast and handed it to her....she polished off 3 slices....all on her own. Then I handed her a cup of milk and she would say "Oh thank-you, I will just take a little bit"....she would drink a tiny sip and then hand it back. I would wait a few seconds....hand her cup back and she would say the same thing "Oh, thank-you. I will just take a little bit." Then hand it back. I did this until the cup was empty. Don't get me wrong, dementia is no laughing matter, but it did make me smile that each time she took the cup again she would smile and say "oh thank-you" as if I was offering it to her for the first time. All that to say when I came back with an empty plate and cup I was met by a very excited worker who said "SHE ATE IT ALL? REALLY??" yes.. victory :). One victory among many not- so- victorious things at work in the last few days...but we won't get into that :). I am learning ....slowly but surely ;)
Well those are basically the highlights of my life these days. Work and married life :). I am very excited for this long weekend of no work!! :)
